ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

"Colores is like a deep healing - a moment of philosophical and emotional reflection, where I both cried and felt joy."

Colores is a innovative flamenco performance where a choir, singers, dancers and a guitarist, with the language of flamenco, investigates the different borderlands of existence. What happens when night meats day, weeping meets laughter, movement meet stillness, sound meets silence? What exists where life meets death? The show is a intercultural cooperation between Sweden and Mexico, where the mexican dancer Ricardo Rubio has been invited to work with flamenco artists from World Dance Company and the choir Voces Flamencas.

The performance was inspired by many talks about life issues and the flamenco art as such. Questions were raised about the space between different life stages, such as creation, life, death, sorrow and release. How could we as flamenco artists, wanting to expand the flamenco expression, express this with our own tools? Colores is the result of this investigation, striving to keep the questions alive, not giving answers. The show is a intercultural cooperation between Sweden and Mexico, where the mexican dancer Ricardo Rubio has been invited to work with flamenco artists from World Dance Company in Gothenburg. Colores had its premiere in September 2016 at Kronhuset in Gothenburg.
